About Us
The Northeast Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program (NE-LSAMP) supports students from under-represented populations in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This regional alliance is comprised of University of Massachusetts Amherst, Northeastern University, University of Connecticut, University of Rhode Island, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. With the assistance of the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE), the NE LSAMP works with students to encourage participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Mission
The NE LSAMP's primary goal is to double the overall number of historically under-represented graduates from the participating institutions by year 2005 and achieve the following objectives:
- Increase the number of students entering employment, undergraduate or graduate programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors from Alliance institutions.
- Expand academic year/summer opportunities for minority students in Alliance institutions.
- Build an infrastructure to ensure continuation of the Alliance and its activities beyond 2005.
